PRIMOŠTEN - a former fishing village is today one of the most attractive tourist destinations on the Adriatic. A unique Mediterranean atmosphere of medieval architecture, narrow stone houses and numerous narrow streets, beautiful sea and the sunny beaches are the reason for its rapid tourism development. There is also a unique marina on the Adriatic coast, protected from wind and surrounded by vineyards.

Primošten is one of the most famous tourist resorts in Dalmatia. Despite the fact that the land is unsuitable for cultivation, agile citizens have created beautiful vineyards and olive groves that made Primošten one of the most attractive destinations on the Adriatic.

Stone houses, churches and narrow streets present a perfect harmony of past and present. From the former fishing village, Primošten developed into a tourist paradise on the Adriatic. In the 16th century, the town walls were built to defend the town from the Turks and the town was connected to the mainland by a movable bridge. This is where Primošten got its name (Primošten means connected with a bridge). On the hill dominating the city the church of St. George with a cemetery was built in 1485. It was later restored in the 18th century. From the tower of the church you can admire a magnificent view of the Primošten surroundings.

Primošten fishermen, olive growers and winemakers have intertwined their skills and have created a monument to the work of human hands in the vineyards made in stone that resemble a lace. The image of those vineyards is located in the UN building in New York. The famous vine "Babić" is cultivated here. Should you visit this area you will experience the most intense and intimate union of man and nature. Enjoy the olive oil, dried figs, goat cheese and a drop of the famous Babić.

During the summer months, in Primošten, many cultural and entertainment events are taking place. The day of Our Lady of Loretta and Our Lady of Porto are especially celebrated with a big procession in the town and on the sea. Every August the Primošten fest is organized where you can get to know Primošten’s old customs under the motto: Poor soil keeps its treasure, but what it gives is twice as worth.
