MURTER - is located in the northwestern part of the island. The city
lures with a large number of islands in its waters (over 170), numerous sandy
beaches and proximity to national parks: Kornati, Paklenica and Krka, nature
parks Telascica and Vrana; cities Zadar, Sibenik and Split.
Murter is situated in the northwestern part of the island. From the XIII century,
called Veliko Selo and Srimac (Srimac), since the 1715th carries the current
name. The town expends towards the bay Hramina (nautical marina) and the bay
Slanica (the most beautiful beaches of Sibenik Riviera).
Murter is the largest town on the island, with the largest number of islands
in its composition (over 170), with numerous sandy beaches on its shores (Čigrađa,
Slanica, Podvrške ...) and a large number of interesting destinations in their
neighborhoods (national parks: Kornati, Paklenica and Krka, nature parks and
Telascica Vrana; cities: Zadar, Sibenik and Split).
During the summer you can attend concerts of classical and popular music and
a particularly impressive Popular church singing. Great cultural events and
traditional boat race are held under the name Latin sail, every year in late
September for the feast of St. Michael, patron of the town.
