SUKOSAN - near Zadar (10km), 5 National Parks and 2 Nature Parks,
the largest marina on the Adriatic coast, closeness to airport and highway
connections are certainly good reasons to choose Sukosan for your charter
base.
The spacious Golden bay on a small promontory lies the medieval village Sukosan.
Today the town extends along the entire large bay, and its ancient part is
now the very core of the developed tourist resort.
It was named after St. Kasijan, whose name carries the parish church that
was built in the Middle Ages. The archbishop of Zadar Matheo Valaresso has
built his mansion in the peaceful landscape of the Sukosan bay on the artificially
made islet. This palace was the most significant example of architecture of
country houses in the 15 c. The square "Upper door" is particularly vivid
with renovated old villas converted into the charming restaurants and a chapel
dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The city is composed of traditional narrow streets
and natural promenades. It’s a place of vineyards, olive groves, lush vegetation
and friendly hosts.
Coastline and many bays, sandy beaches and clear sea are suitable for a family
vacation. During the summer months are taking place various exhibitions, concerts
and theater performances. Fishermen Nights, with fish, Dalmatian wine and songs
are held every Thursday.
