Kvarner lies on the northern Croatian coast, and includes wide Riviera of
Rijeka and the Vinodol coast coastline and the coastal area at the foot of
the Velebit until Karlobag.
Kvarner coast includes islands are the eastern coast of Istria and the Velebit
Channel: Krk, Cres, Lošinj, Rab, Pag, Union, Susak (unique in that it is covered
with sand), Silba, Olib ecc.
Kvarner coast consists of several sub regional entities. The centre of the
Kvarner coast is its northernmost part about the Bay of Rijeka Rijeka urban
centre, which gravitate all Kvarner towns and villages. Among others sub regional
entities the most known are Riviera of Opatija, Vinodol (Crikveničko Coast),
Kvarner coast and islands.
It's difficult to think of any other corner of the world, except the Kvarner
Bay, which can offer at the same time the indented coastline, with numerous
attractive islands, mountains, dense forests, lakes and rivers, mild climate,
rich history and tradition. With all the beauty and diversity of the Kvarner
coast, islands and their landscapes, it is not surprising that this region
is called the "Gateway to the Adriatic nautical paradise".
