The island of Vis is one of the must see islands of the Middle Dalmatia with many attractive bays for anchoring. One of them is Stomčica, near the town of Vis. The 38m lighthouse on the Cape Stončica dominates the bay. The bay itself is almost half a mile deep and it's well protected from all winds. However, it's better to moor in its southern part, 5-15 m deep. The bottom is sandy and the anchor won't hold very well, so remember to dig it well into the sand. If the bay is crowded, you can use the stern ropes to moor on the shore.
A beautiful sandy beach lies in the bottom of the bay, hosting one of the best restaurants on the island of Vis where they offer excellent organic food.
