Marina Hramina, Murter

Murter is a town located in the northwestern part of the island of Murter. Originally named Veliko Selo in the 13th century and later called Srimac, the town has been known as Murter since 1715. Murter is the largest and oldest settlement on the island, connected to the mainland by a bridge at Tisno, located 35 km west of Šibenik.

The town is known for its numerous sandy beaches, such as Cigrada, Slanica, and Podvrške. It is also close to many interesting destinations, including national parks like Kornati, Paklenica, and Krka, as well as nature parks like Telaščica and Vrana. The cities of Zadar, Šibenik, and Split are also nearby. During the summer, Murter hosts concerts of classical and popular music, and visitors can enjoy impressive church singing performances. One of the most notable events is the annual traditional boat regatta called "Latin Sail," held in late September during the festival of St. Michael, the town's patron saint. The old part of the town, known as Selo, is situated below the hill Raduč, while the newer part is built along the coast of Hramina Bay, reflecting its strong connection to the sea.

It is a popular departure point for excursions to Kornati National Park. The town has a rich history, dating back to Roman times when the Romans built the town of Colentum at the foot of the hill Gradina in the 1st century. This town served as a retreat for Roman soldiers. The name "Murter" is believed to come from the word "mortarium," a carved stone trough used in olive oil production, highlighting the region's long tradition of olive growing. Murter's olive oil is famous and highly regarded. Murter offers a unique experience together with natural beauty, and vibrant cultural events, making it a perfect destination for visitors seeking relaxation.
