CRES is located in a great protected bay on the island of Cres, surrounded by rocks. Excellent microclimate Conditions, historical core, pure nature and the sea, spacious beaches, island atmosphere and homey ambience invites you to visit this small town on the island.
Cres is the main town and tourist centre of the entire island situated on the north-eastern part of the large and well protected bay that abounds with beautiful beaches. Cres has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Archaeologists find, as evidenced, the remains from prehistoric and Roman times as well as of an early Christian basilica from the 6th century. The town is marked today by the medieval harbour "Mandrac”, Gothic and Renaissance churches and monasteries, houses of noble families and the remains of the town walls.
The most famous cultural and entertainment events are the city's festivities, which are held once a week, and the famous Lubenice musical evenings with many local and foreign participants. October is reserved for the famous Regatta Cres-CUP. In Cres bay, south of the city, a modern marina is located, with berths and a multitude of services, which makes Cres one of the favourite nautical bases in the northern Adriatic.
Taste the gastronomic specialties of ecologically raised lamb, and ecologically grown fruits and vegetables, and some dishes with asparagus and well-known medicinal brandy.
