      Split is the largest city in Dalmatia and is an important cultural, economic, tourist and sports centre. The city has several beaches, many hotels, and sports facilities, and is home to The Port of Split. The marina is just a short walk from the famous Diocletian's Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage site that dates back to the 4th century and is the centrepiece of the town. Above the town, there is a hill called Marjan with pine woods, Mediterranean plants, many walking paths and three churches from the Middle Ages. The Archaeological Museum is one of the richest in Croatia. There are also many other museums: Maritime, Ethnographical, National, etc. Visitors to the area can also enjoy a music festival held every June and the Split Summer Festival organized every July. Nearby islands, including Brač, Hvar, and Vis, are also popular destinations for boaters and offer a range of activities, including hiking, snorkelling, and wine tasting.
